Rad Heroes - Fortnite Save the World Season 10 Recap

Expect the unexpected! You never know what you're going to get from the Fortnite crew. For example, I never would have expected a throwback retro 80's theme set of Rad heroes coming from a new Rad Llama but that's exactly what we got with season 10. Unexpected yes but surprised I am not, considering the eras recent popularity in most modern entertainment mediums. With cult like phenomenoms like Stranger Things thriving in popularity and having a strong emphasis on the time period.

What we got visually reminded you of different aspects of the era. Power Pop Penny could be straight out of a night club or a skating rink from the 80's. Main Stage Quinn could literally be off of a main stage. Breakbeat Wildcat and Dennis Jr. remind you more of the Rock N' Roll scene back then. While Varsity Hiro really nails the high school jock, representing more of the athletic side of the spectrum. Each one artistically looks amazing. All of the skins were colorful, vibrant and bright. The details were very on point.

What they ended up adding to the game in terms of functionality was another story. Each one of these heroes offered some unique form or way to activate a very powerful new perk called Rockin' Riff. Which increases Damage by 50% and Melee Attack Speed by 32%, while decaying over 8 seconds.

After unlocking Dennis Jr. through The Long Road Home questline, you get access to the new Totally Rockin' Out team perk, which amplifies Rockin' Riff even more. Granting it the extra ability of 160 Critical Rating, which also decays and Healing 73.75 of your base health each time it activates.

This perk is so powerful that you're going to end up creating lots of loadouts built entirely around it. The damage potential is insane. The Totally Rockin' Out team perk really changes the way the game is played. So much so you will be re-perking your weapons to accomodate the new changes to your hero loadouts. Having access to extra Critical Rating and Attack Speed in one perk is amazing and it has so much more to offer your new builds.

What I really liked about the new heroes were the versatility in how you can grant Rockin' Riff. You can activate on elimination when specific conditions are met with Breakbeat Wildcat, Power Pop Penny and Dennis Jr. You can simply activate it on command at will with Sub Wafers from Main Stage Quinn. Last but not least Varsity Hiro has husks literally fumble a football when they are eliminated and it looks very authentic!

The Rad heroes were a pleasent surprise to the game aesthetically. They power creeped the hell out of some of the hero loadouts we used to love and enjoy. It was a great set. I'm glad we are starting to get some more diverse heroes that have perks related to other skills and abilities. Like Axes with Dennis Jr. Some of those need more love for sure.

Next up are the Boombox weapons.
