Expeditions

Expeditions

Deep under the Command tab, hiding under the Heroes, is the Expeditions page. Expeditions are a strong consideration for one of the most underused and underrated parts of Fortnite Save the World. Expeditions allow you to send the heroes you're not using out on a mission to potentially gather more materials while you're out playing and having fun.

It's an auto-mission. Meaning all you have to do is pick the heroes you want to send out on the Expedition and wait for the alloted time to expire to see if your mission was a failure or a success.

The only downside to doing Expeditions is that you can't do any new ones once your storage has reached its limits and your storage will reach its limits. You will need to do routine inventory management to keep your resources in check and at bay once your space starts to reach its capacity.

See the different parts of an Expedition.

There are a lot of different components that make up an Expedition and we'll go over all of those below. Each Expedition has a witty Name, a Rating/Power Level, Hero Slots, potential Slot Bonus(es), a Success Rate, a Vehicle Type, a Timer, Expiration Timer, a Reward Type, and a Cost.

  • Rating/Power Level: How hard the mission is expected to be. The Rating is the missions Power Level. Not to be confused by your Power Level or your Heroes Power Level.
  • Hero Slots: These are the slots that you are allowed to add heroes into. Each heroes Power Level will count towards the combined total Power Level. There could be anywhere from one to five slots. Depending on your progress within the game. As you level up and complete your Storm Shield Defenses, you will unlock more slots for your Expeditions.
  • Slot Bonuses: Occasionally you will come across a Slot Bonus. It asks you to match a hero type in return for extra Power Level added to your hero for that slot. If it asks for an Epic Soldier. You will need a Soldier of Epic or higher rarity to receive the Slot Bonus. Once you receive the bonus, you can't receive it again but you can have multiples of the same bonus at the same time and they all count.
  • Success Rate: Your heroes combined Power Level will determine the percentage of its success rate. Its the only factor in whether you succeed or not. From 0% to 100%. Determined by comparing the combined hero Power Level to the Expedition Power Level.
  • Vehicle Type: There are three vehicle types. Trucks go out by Land and are typically the easiest missions to complete with the shortest timers. Boats go out by Sea and more intermediate mission types with intermediate timers. Helicopters go out by Air and offer some of the highest risk versus reward with the longest timers.
  • Timer: The Timer is how long its going to take the Expedition to be completed. Timers vary from 3 hours and 59 minutes to 22 hours. Depending on the Expedition and Vehicle type.
  • Expiration Timer: Expeditions expire and reset every few hours. Once one sets expires, they are replaced by a new set of Expeditions.
  • Reward Type: Finally the reason why we're here. The loot! There are several types of rewards you can get. Crafting Supplies, Recruits, Rescued Survivors, Supply Crates, stacks of Traps. They come in Tiny, Small, Medium, and Large quantities.
  • Cost: Every Expedition has a Cost. The Cost could be People, like the ones you gain from completing missions or Research Points you gather over time. Sometimes it is both. It usually is a small quantity.

By the time you are in Twine Peaks, you will have unlocked the ability to do two Expeditions of each Vehicle Type and will have access to the highest Power Level Expeditions. You should have plenty of extra heroes laying around and no good reason not to do these. It's just another opportunity to gather more of the scarce resources in the game. That all players should take advantage of.

Lets wrap this up on the next page.
