Farming Limited Materials
Limited materials like Crystals, Mechanical Parts, Mineral Powder, Twine and Ore are some of the most cost intensive materials in the game. They are used for just about everything from traps to weapons. You will need tons.
Monsters are known to drop them on occasion. You can get them as rewards from completing objectives like rescuing a Survivor or finishing an Encampment or a Radar Tower within a mission. You can get them as rewards from the missions themselves.
Some of the best sources of these are from Storm Chests. Dismantling items dropped within the game are a great way to acquire these. Expeditions, like Crafting Supply Runs, can also return these.
Crystals
Crystals come in Shadowshard and Sunbeam respectively. These are extremely rare ore nodes that are generally only found on the outskirts of maps.
- Shadowshard Crystal can be found in Twine Peaks.
- Sunbeam Crystal can be found in mid to late Twine Peaks.
Mechanical Parts
Mechanical Parts are mostly used in crafting ranged weapons and traps. Mechanical Parts can be found by destroying just about anything that is metal, like parking meters or street signs. They are most commonly found in cars. Cars are most commonly found in City maps.

- Simple Mechanical Parts can be found in late Stonewood and Plankerton.
- Sturdy Mechanical Parts can be found in late Plankerton and Canny Valley.
- Sleek Mechanical Parts can be found in late Canny Valley and Twine Peaks.
- Efficient Mechanical Parts can be found in mid to late Twine Peaks.
Mineral Powders
Mineral Powders are most commonly found in rocks.
- Rough Mineral Powder can be found in Stonewood and SSDs everywhere.
- Simple Mineral Powder can be found in late Stonewood and Plankerton.
- Fine-Grain Mineral Powder can be found in late Plankerton and Canny Valley.
- Char-Black Mineral Powder can be found in late Canny Valley and Twine Peaks.
- Oxidized Mineral Powder can be found in mid to late Twine Peaks.
Twine
Twine are commonly found in trees and looting other plant based items.
- Stringy Twine can be found in Stonewood and SSDs everywhere.
- Simple Twine can be found in late Stonewood and Plankerton.
- Sturdy Twine can be found in late Plankerton and Canny Valley.
- Peaky Twine can be found in late Canny Valley and Twine Peaks.
- Carved Twine can be found in mid to late Twine Peaks.
Ore
Ore is a base material for all crafting. These are most commonly found in ore nodes.
- Copper Ore can be found in Stonewood and SSDs everywhere.
- Silver Ore can be found in late Stonewood and Plankerton.
- Malachite Ore can be found in late Plankerton and Canny Valley.
- Obsidian Ore can be found in late Canny Valley and Twine Peaks.
- Brightcore Ore can be found in mid to late Twine Peaks.
